My husband, Gary is third generation, Mexican on his dad side. He grew up in Mexico City. Every other year for the past 40 years, we have take a trip to Mexico to be with all of his side of the family.
The family has grown and grown and we have three generations with the total of 24 family members. Last July, we just completed a beautiful, “best trip ever!”
About three weeks before this trip, I set an intention – This is going to be the “best trip ever!”
Now, what did that mean to me? Let me show you the list that I made for myself:
- I will be completely healthy, and Montezuma‘s revenge will let me be, me!
- My husband and I will not get in a fight!
- I will not try to be everyone’s mental health recovery coach in spite of all of my wonderful training and certifications.
- I will enjoy all 24 people.
- I will rest.
- I will share my granddaughter!😁
Every day, as often as I thought of it, during those three weeks, I said, “This is going to be the best trip ever!”
So the day came and I was really excited about how this trip was going to look different from some of the others. We traveled to Puerto Vallarta and the “best trip ever” began.
Now this is where the action really came to play. I heard within my soul and my Guidance: “Seek, and you shall find, ask and it shall be given”, and “You can’t serve two gods at one time”. Dang, I thought, what does all that mean? Then it became very clear…. You have said your intention is to have the best trip ever, so keep on walking through that door. The Universe/ My Higher Power is co-creating with me that which I am “seeking”. There are other doors that come up… One could be complaining, another criticizing, another judging. You cannot go through one of these doors and still expect to get through the door of “best trip ever.”
So every time that I was bearing off my path, I would correct and take the action of getting back to my intention.
Now guess what happened??!! I had the best trip ever! I was so extremely proud of myself for following through on my intention! It gives me joy right now as I write this and think about the trip!
This was such an a-ha experience for me. So, I have decided to use it on the daily! I set an intention for whatever is going on that day. I sit here writing this in Michigan as I am visiting my granddaughter for her second birthday.
A few days ago, I set an intention on the day that I traveled here from Atlanta to be “the best travel day ever.” This happened to include a four hour delay at the Atlanta airport. Every time that I wanted to complain, criticize or judge, I would catch myself, readjust my path, bounce back into my resiliency zone and stay with my intention. This was at times a little difficult because the people around me were complaining and getting upset. Then I remembered you cannot serve two gods at one time. Do you want this to be the best travel day ever or not?
I then sat next to some folks and we began talking about this delay in a new way. I shared some of what I’m sharing with you here, with them. Somehow we just begin laughing histerically and had such a healing moment!🤣😁💜💪🏽
Yes, intentions are so powerful and we must also take the action to stay on the path. Sometimes that looks like easy-going and other times we have to bounce back into our resiliency zone again and again! Either way, I know that it is worth it. Worth it for me, my body, my mind, my soul, and worth it for those that are around me who are impacted by who I show up as, in the world! For wherever you are going this day, my sincere wish and blessing is that you will have the “best trip ever!“
Sending TheBigLOVE,
